Privacy
This is a free, unofficial map for Project Zomboid. It works without an account, and most of what it does happens in your browser. This page lists everything the site keeps and everything it never sees.
Using the map
Your map view, language, drawings and settings are stored in your browser (local storage), not on our servers. The hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, request URL, browser type) for a short time to run and protect the service.
Live position and the companion mod
The companion mod writes your character's position to a small file on your own computer. The site reads that file locally; nothing is uploaded. If you log in and turn on sharing with your devices, your position is relayed between your own logged-in devices through our server while a device is watching. Positions are never stored: the relay keeps only the latest one in memory for a few seconds. We keep an aggregate count of sharing time per account per day to watch costs.
Accounts
Logging in uses a magic link sent to your email address. We store the email, the time of login, a session token, and a hashed form of your IP address for a short time to limit login attempts. You can log out from the account panel at any time; sessions expire on their own.
Feedback
The feedback form sends your message, your current map link and, if you add it, your email to the site owner's mailbox. It is used only to answer you or fix the problem.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which parts of the map are used. Google sets its own cookies for this. How Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you logged in when you have an account. Google Analytics sets its own. There are no advertising cookies.
Your choices
- Stop live sharing or log out at any time from the map's account and position panels.
- Ask for your account and its data to be deleted, or ask what we hold about your email, through the Feedback button on the map. We answer from the owner's mailbox.
- Block analytics with your browser's tracking settings or an ad blocker; the map keeps working.
